Induction Task Evaluation

Induction Task Evaluation
For our first task in order to get us used to the equipment we would be using for our 2-year course we were tasked with filming a short skit almost just to get a feel of the cameras, sound and editing equipment. My groups short film was a simple narrative of boy meeting girl which eventually is concluded with a kiss between., it’s played as sexual but nearer the end a comedic aspect is used which makes the viewing more enjoyable, I believe. For this we had to create pre-production including shot list and creating a narrative and a sort of script as well.
I feel that one of the most successful elements was our shots as we had clear variety and were planned well especially considering most of us have barely used a camera before, we had tracking shots, close-ups, long shots etc. Including the use of special effects such as slow motion and finding a suiting backing track to go with it. I also feel are group worked well together with using all our ideas and finding a job role for everyone. When we were editing some of our more experience members took the lead in editing and helped how to explain, how to use it to the members who had before which was very helpful.
Things that could be changed would be not being able to retake any shots as we only had enough time to go through one run through due to this, we had to use fades in this instead of cuts which was alright and make it useable but being more prepared would’ve been ideal. Also, while trying to use equipment such as a steady cam some mistakes were made including my leg being out of shot in one scene.
Overall, I am quite happy with our first task and would say it went as successful as it could the first time trying anything. The mistakes we have made will allow us to develop further throughout the course.
